Everyone likes a glass of grape juice after work. At the harvest - Capella 2009 - 2009-10-16, 12:02 am

It's already one month after our last message and we can happily report that we have finished this year's wine harvest. The busy time prevented us from posting updates to the website while the harvest was going on but we can now say that it was an exceptionally good one. We will provide a short overview of how the harvest went shortly. In the meantime we present a couple of pictures of what we think was much likely one of the most exciting parts of it. more...

The harvest begins - 2009-9-14, 4:10 pm

The wine year's end is coming closer and it's finally time for the harvest again. After having a first taste of it while picking St. Laurent grapes last week, the main harvest will start tomorrow. In the next weeks we can therefore be found in our vinyards or the wine cellar almost all around the clock. There's time for rest later. We will of course keep you informed with pictures and news from the harvest as much as our time permits. So join in with us in looking forward to the new vintage.

How to taste 150 wines - 2009-8-19, 10:08 am

Recently I had the opportunity to participate as an official taster at a wine challenge. There were 158 wines to be rated within about three hours and since there is always the question how it is possible to taste and reasonably judge more than a handful of wines, I will provide a quick record on how this can be done. (written by Andreas Schreiner) more...

Summer, now? - 2009-7-2, 1:16 am

At last it seems that summer is really going to happen now. The spring was warm, dry and just about perfect for our vines. A great time during flowering then set the base for a very successful 2009 vintage. June was a bit of a different story though. It was relatively cold and we had a lot of rain for our part of the world. Luckily this is also the time when the vines need the most water so supplement their fast growth and so the rain was not too bad after all. Also we were not hit by heavy thunderstorms which made this year almost ideal until now. Provided summer really arrives with some dry and very hot weeks we can expect an exceptional vintage in 2009. Let's hope for the best! more...

Planting a vinyard at Wine in the Spring. - 2009-4-17, 7:34 am

At the weekend we will participate at our village's "Weinfrühling" (Wine in the Spring) event but this year we have something special in store for our guests. We have a small spot of land just across the street from our tasting room and there we want to plant a new vinyard. As it happenes, we got the grapevines for this just yesterday and this made us thinking abouth when to plant them. Of course the Wine in the Spring event came to our minds, making the choice rather easy. We will plant the vinyard on Saturday the 18th of April and everyone who wants to can join, have a look or even help out. So you can not only taste a bunch of great wines from our winery, but also experience the making of a whole new vinyard. - Didn't always want to? more...

Speicherstadt Hamburg in heavy fog Hamburg Wine Fair - 2009-2-18, 4:19 pm

We had a good time but unfortunately it's already over. Even if the snowy Hamburg was a bit too cold and foggy for us two Fair participants, we were happy to see lots of old as well as new faces at the Wine Fair. Apparently not many people were discouraged by the weather and so lots of visitors turned up. Thus we had a great opportunity to present our fine wines from Austria at the booth of Roswitha Kappner's Austrian Wine Store. more...

Tasting at our table at the Berlin Wine Fair 2009 Berlin Wine Fair 2009 - 2009-1-16, 12:50 am

A few days have passed since the Berlin Wine Fair took place in the beautiful halls of the Rathaus Schöneberg. We are back home and again working in the wine cellar and the vinyards. We now want to take a moments time to thank everyone who visited us at the fair. It was very nice to see a lot of familiar faces as well as many new ones. We had a great time in Berlin and hope you enjoyed the fair just as much as we did. We are already planning for the next year's fair where we can hopefully meet again and taste some great wines from the Sonnenmulde Estate Winery. more...
