Planting a vinyard at Wine in the Spring.

At the weekend we will participate at our village's "Weinfrühling" (Wine in the Spring) event but this year we have something special in store for our guests. We have a small spot of land just across the street from our tasting room and there we want to plant a new vinyard. As it happenes, we got the grapevines for this just yesterday and this made us thinking abouth when to plant them. Of course the Wine in the Spring event came to our minds, making the choice rather easy. We will plant the vinyard on Saturday the 18th of April and everyone who wants to can join, have a look or even help out. So you can not only taste a bunch of great wines from our winery, but also experience the making of a whole new vinyard. - Didn't always want to?

We will start rather early at about 8 a.m., measuring the vinyard and determining where the lines of vines should be. Then we will of course plant them, put up the trellis, the vine's support rods and everything else that is needed for a vinyard. Overall this will take us well into the afternoon and after completion, we will enjoy a nice cool glass of wine in our tasting room with everyone who participated. If you want to be a part of it come to the Weinfrühling, find your way to our wine cellar (no. 56 on the event plan) and there you will find us.

After the action we will of course report on everything here on our website, present some pictures of the event and tell the full story. So even if you cannot join us, stay tuned for more news from the Sonnenmulde Estate Winery!
