Ripe white grapes just after harvesting
Nowadays Austrian white wines don't need much explanation anymore, they have been a known constant in the international wine world for many years now. Most famous is of course our Grüner Veltliner, the most widespread of all Austrian grape varieties. It can be found in almost all of the winegrowing areas and it's grapes are formed into diverse wines that are typical of their growing site. Besides the Veltliner there are and always have been other white wine grapes in our country as well of course. Riesling, Welschriesling, Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc yield top wine qualities just as aromatic grapes like Muskat and Traminer do.

Naturally the white wines we havest around Lake Neusiedl are influenced by the growing conditions of our area. The hot and dry climate guarantees very ripe grapes and enables our typical early harvest that already starts in late August in some years. An early harvest means fruity wines, not too broad and with an enjoyable acidity that makes them easy to drink and just perfect for having them young and fresh. On the other hand we can of course wait with the harvest and yield much more powerful white wines, dry and sweet Late Harvests or even most noble dessert wines. This makes the area around Gols really unique because wines in almost all imaginable styles thrive here and invite to be enjoyed.
