The Merlot most likely comes from the Bordeaux region of France. It prefers light and warm soils as well as a mild climate. It can be found in any wine growing region world-wide wherever these conditions are provided. In our region, the Burgenland, the Merlot ripens very early, but its sensitivity to frost makes its yields a bit irregular and uncertain.

A not too dark orange-red colour.

Taste

 :

In the beginning the Merlot shows a light bouquet remembering on green grass. Aged for some time, the bouquet becomes more mature. The Taste is smooth and mild though there is a bit of adstringent aftertaste.

The Merlot fits very well to simple as well as stronger meals.
