The Eiswein (Icewine) is a very special wine and one of the top products of our region. Only healthy grapes can be used for this type of wine. Harvest is usually at night in the moonlight, or very early in the morning because the temperature hast to be at least -7° or lower (19,4 degrees Fahrenheit). At this temperature the water in the grapes freezes, but not the concentratet sugar-extract. After picking, the grapes are pressed only gently so that the liquid and very sweet juice is gained wheras the water remains as ice within the press. Therefore the yield is very low and the wine rare.

Taste

This very sweet wine with its spicy aroma and fullness is a typical Muskat Ottonell with an high but elegant acidity. Its sweetness and its icy touch make it very interesting.

 :

Spicy cheese, dessert at a big banquet or just for enoying a glass of "sun and ice".
