Apart from some interesting wine fairs, March is not the most exciting month of a wine year. Nevertheless
even now things are going on in the vinyards and of course we dont want to keep them as a secret.
Currently the vines are still in deep hibernation which is partly due to this years long and cold winter.
Also grapevines always start to grow rather late when it finally is getting warmer. The buds usually do not
shoot before early to mid April.
So we still have some time to finish the winter labours. Pruning
is already finished but now we tie down the remaining vines to the trellis wire. And while we are on it, we
also check the trellis and repair damages from last year. So nothing spectacular is happening in March but
we are of course already busy working on the foundations of a great wine year 2010!
